For the past four years, the El Paso Ridgewalkers has had a registered event to promote National Trails Day. This year, our event will be the Pine Tree Trail located at Aguirre Springs. The Pine Tree Trail loop covers a wide ecological range, from lower-elevation mountain mahogany scrub to ponderosa pine woodland on its upper parts. Its a moderate 4.5 mile loop with trees, streams, boulders, wildlife, and great views of the Tularosa Basin and White Sands National Monument. Click Here to register for this event and make sure to bring your camera, and a picnic lunch for an after hike picnic.
We have a backpacking trip scheduled for June 14th and 15th. Yes, we know that is on Father's Day. Those of you that want to do just the hike on Satuday are welcome to come along and return the same day, so that you will not miss out on spending the day with your Dad. More information will be posted on the Hillsboro Peak trip soon.
Thanks again to Ken Steiner for the beautiful photos displayed on our web site.
The weekly automated newsletter begins this week. Please let me know if you have any difficulties with the newsletter, and if you have any suggestions to make improvements.
