My First Hot Air Balloon Flight
Wednesday, 28 May 2008
Nobody forgets their first balloon flight. I had my first hot air balloon flight May 9, 2004. With a roar of the burners the balloon rises into the air, and then silence as you float and drift with the winds. The silence is periodically interrupted with bursts of the burner to maintain altitude. You don't feel any wind, because you are a part of it.
The balloon drifts gracefully above the ground, and if you do not look down you may not even realize you are moving. But when you do look down, it feels as if the balloon is stationary, and the earth is moving underneath you. The sensation of floating a few hundred feet above the ground, over trees, buildings, homes and highways is truly an experience that cannot compare to anything else.
After the flight, there is champange and a short ceremony for the first time flyers. Many thanks to the crew of the Wind Dragon for a very unique and exhilarating experience.
Our next trip will be a three day two night 19 mile trail in Big Bend.
January 17, 18, and 19th
